Cataract

A cataract is a clouding of the eye lens. It is a natural phenomenon which usually occurs from the age of 60. Visual acuity and the perception of contrast are affected by the “haze”. Moreover, the afflicted person becomes more sensitive to glare.

The cataract is not a disease but a natural development that can occur in healthy eyes. Cataract surgery leads to a substantial improvement in visual performance in nearly every case. A thorough preliminary medical examination is necessary to ascertain whether surgery is possible.
